Assembled Sectional Track - Springfield, MO - June 2007

Meet Mopac Mike

I've been a model railroader for over 30 years, but a rail-fan as far back as I can remember. My hobbies and passions are trains, model railroading, photography, computer programming, music, and wine. Because my job requires an extremely high level of attention to detail, when it comes to my locomotives, I forego some of the minute detail. I prefer instead to capture the essence of Mopac and Frisco railroading. "Rivet-counting" in my railroading would make the hobby way too much like work!

If you're looking for 100% prototypically correct models, you won't always find them on my layout. I really don't care if my Proto 2000 locomotive isn't a perfect representation of the MoPac prototype - it's close enough for me!

Of course, attention to detail in some areas is very important for good operation. Close attention must be paid to proper track-laying, coupler heights, car weight, electrical, and electronic connections for the layout. Small details can really make or break a scene, too!

So, I guess I do pay attention to detail, just not to the point of having everything exactly the way it might have been on the prototype.

WAY OFF-TRACK

While model railroading and railfanning consumes a great deal of my free time, I do find time to photograph something besides trains ocassionally.

So, if you're tired of looking at trains (oh no!), or you're just curious why anyone would make photographs of some-thing other than trains, check out some of the images you will find here. You may also see some photos of my wife's many quilts and afghans..
